Topographic Effects of Four Different Beverages to Cu - Sn ( Eta Prime ) Phase Amalgam Surface : A Scanning Electron Microscopic Study
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this study the corroding and/or tarnishing implications of coke, a fizzy soft drink, tea and coffee to the eta prime phase plastic amalgam surface following the filling were evaluated. Thirty six acrylic blocks were prepared which each one was having 5 mm in diameter and 1 mm in depth welts where condensed with amalgam. Those blocks were divided into six groups. The groups were coffee, tea, coke, a fizzy soft drink, water (negative control), and citric acid (positive control). Blocks were immersed into those liquids and were left 5 minutes. Later samples evaluated under SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope). While coke causing mostly pitting corrosion, fizzy soft drink was causing inter granular corrosion, and citric acid caused crack type corrosion. Tea and coffee did not show any effect to topographic structure similar to water to the eta prime phase amalgam.

Evaluation of the amalgamation reaction of experimental Ag-Sn-Cu alloys containing Pd using a mercury plating technique.
A mercury plating technique was used to determine the phases forming on experimental Ag-Sn-Cu alloy powders (with and without Pd) exposed to electrolytically deposited mercury. Four series of alloy powders were made: a) 1.5% Pd with 10-14% Cu (CU series); b) 1.0% Pd with 10-14% Cu (1PD series); c) 1.5% Pd with different ratios of Ag3Sn (gamma) to Ag4Sn (beta) with 12% Cu (AGSN series); and d) 9...
متن کاملThe Microstructure and Crystal Orientation of Sn-Ag and Sn-Cu Solders Affected by their Interfacial Reactions with Cu and Ni(P)
Recently, it has been reported that the crystal orientation and grain size of the β-Sn phase in Sn-rich solders have profound effects on the reliabilities of Pb-free solder joints, such as thermo-mechanical fatigue, electromigration, and among others. Additionally, it is also known that the microstructure of Sn-rich solders is strongly affected by their alloy composition. In this study, the gra...
متن کاملCZTSe solar cells prepared by electrodeposition of Cu/Sn/Zn stack layer followed by selenization at low Se pressure
Cu2ZnSnSe4 (CZTSe) thin films are prepared by the electrodeposition of stack copper/tin/zinc (Cu/Sn/Zn) precursors, followed by selenization with a tin source at a substrate temperature of 530°C. Three selenization processes were performed herein to study the effects of the source of tin on the quality of CZTSe thin films that are formed at low Se pressure. Much elemental Sn is lost from CZTSe ...

This study was undertaken to investigate the effects of Cu and solution heat treatment on the microstructure and hardness of cast Al-Al4Sr metal matrix composite. Different amounts of Cu (0.3, 0.5, 1, 3 and 5 wt.%) were added to the composite. Specimens were heat treated at 500 °C for 4 hours followed by water quenching. Microstructural studies were assessed by the use of optical microscope, sc...
متن کاملPreparation and Characterization of Copper Powders with Sn Coating by the Electroless Plating
In this work, Sn-Cu composite powders were produced using an electroless process. The tin content on the surface of copper powders was varied by using di erent concentrations of SnSO4 in the plating bath. The surface morphology of the produced Sn-Cu composite powders was characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) was used to determine the elemen...
